A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council 2015, Alhaji Ibrahim Jirgi, has described the recent controversial stand of senators on many issues of national importance as “unfortunate and disappointing.”
Jirgi, who said senators must shelve their alleged “gang-up to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari” added that they should be mindful of the fact that Nigerians were watching them.
“Without fear of contradiction, I say that the latest ridiculous moves and utterances by a section of senators make the upper chamber not only a disappointment but a downright sell out,” said Jirgi, a member of the field operations directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council.
Jirgi wondered how the Senate “descended so low as to allow people like Dino Melaye to drag them into such a messy public disrepute.”
According to him, “It is shocking how such high-profile Nigerians with considerable experience in politics should allow their reputations to be muddied by the actions of people like Melaye.
“In specific terms, it is quite shocking that such seasoned politicians as Abdullahi Adamu, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Adamu Alero, Ahmed Sani, David Mark, Kabiru Gaya, Danjuma Goje, Godswill Akpabio and others, who have variously governed their states would allow non-starters like Melaye to drag them to the gallery,” he said.
He warned that if allowed to continue, some happenings in the National Assembly were capable to truncating Nigeria’s hard-earned democracy.
